Thanks for your visit to my build thread, Grizz. I've learned much from you.

I have a tendency to rough cut with a jigsaw and then put the final finish on with a router but have discovered that you can get in trouble quickly sometimes no matter what power tool you use.

I'm not sure what the cause was, but it was frustrating to have to stop and get the bearing rolling again. The bearing was HOT and touching it bare-handed wasn't good. A tender grip with needle-nosed vise grips and a shot of WD-40 worked to get it rolling again.

When it works, it works great!

Yep, I had a problem or two with one of my bits also. Either I was pushing the bit too hard or it was a cheap bit. Halfway through cutting my sides the bearing fell off and my bit went a little wild. Left a big dent in the hatch area. Fortunately, after a few choice words, I was able to sand it out with the belt sander. You can still see a slight dip where it was but it's one of those places that drives me crazy but no one else notices.

Nice work! :applause:

Thanks for stopping by, Mark. Your build documentation has been a huge help and seeing "Little Switzerland" at Beaver's Bend was very inspiring.

I think the bearing jamming was caused by debris that got into the area between the bearing and the cutting edges. When I plow thru some thick material, the depth adjustment on my Craftsman router will wander, always causing the bit to lower. I can see the ring rotate and will stop and readjust. That sm. amt. of lowering creates a thin shelf in the "target" wood,,, perfect for slipping into the gap under the bearing. It's an MCLS bit.

I'm pretty sure it was the router or bits fault and not my lack of skill

I can't imagine losing the entire bearing, that might cause a grown man to cry.

Love your latest avatar, almost a dead-ringer for my boy Dewey.

I wanna play ! (sorry for thread hijack)

Tabitha - Life Saver, Grande Dame, Computer cat, and Hysterical purrrrer.....

Was once a pregnant football, abused and kicked about by kids, took more than 2 years after being adopted as a rescue cat to actually sit on Nicola's lap.
When I met them 2 years ago, she just bonded with me instantly, and Nicola has renamed her "Judas"

She looks after the other 2 cats in the house, and also the humans.

Tabitha.

Today I belt-sanded the sidewall edges and then cleared the deck and stood them up, attaching temporary spars to hold everything in alignment. I was pleased with how it went and am comfortable with the current wall stability, not rock-solid now but expect that to improve once I add the bulkheads. I've been looking forward to this milestone for a long time!

This view is looking towards the front, 74.5" wide, and will be the location of the dinette/sleeper.

I'm still on the hunt for windows, will have to install those later. In the meantime I'll be building the dinette, closet, desk, and bathroom. Ought to keep me busy. I'm having a blast working on it!

Cat pics and stories are always appreciated here.

Tabitha/Judas is beautiful, I admire you for rescuing her and providing her with a loving home.

Dewey is an adopted stray and is the best pal I could ever want. I hope he'll adapt to camping but don't expect problems. As long as he's around me he's a happy and very spoiled boy. (He's snoozing in my lap now.)

Love your detailed pics of the building process! It is really helping me plan.

Couldn't resist posting a pic of my cat, Daisy.
16 years old and you would never know it. She still acts like a kitten much of the time. Runs out to greet me every time I come home.

OOOOOHHHHHHH !!!!!

I LIKE ZEPHYR.

I am sure he has grown older disgracefully  Perfect cat.

Daisy above also looks a lot less than 16.

I guess it is rare to find a bad cat..... they do move on if the world does not suit them.

Oh, and they do have absolute relevance to our Teardrop building..... THE HELP ! 8)

Thanks, BillZ. Due to shop space limitations my build steps are somewhat out of the normal sequence. For example, I wouldn't suggest putting both sidewalls up before adding the bulkheads. If I would've done that, I would've not been able to exit the trailer to access the rest of my shop. And, at this point the "sidewall-to-aft bulkhead" intersection doesn't exist, the galley sidewalls will be added later. It's a logic puzzle building in a confined area,,,, with some trade-offs involved. I call it "modular slouchy style".

Nice pic of Daisy, thanks for sharing.

I'll be anxious to see what you have planned for solar power, if any?

Love that pic, Ageless. Has he grown into the collar yet?

I had a grey cat for many years, Greyboy. I never was very creative with names.

I'd like your help identifying some UT rocks, if you don't mind. I'll send ya a PM.
