Campground suggestions/recomendations close to NOLA??

Postby tinksdad » Mon May 10, 2010 8:01 pm

My daughter finally set a date for her wedding. Not much notice, only 6 1/2 weeks away. It will be in New Orleans the end of June. With the brides mom (my ex), the grooms mom, and the grooms brother and sister in law staying at their place, there's no room left for the brides dad. My daughter said to bring IttyBitty and just park in the street in front of the house. For a multitude of reasons, I don't want to do that; but I would consider taking the tear if there is a reasonably close (45 minutes to an hour) campground to stay at.

Any body know of or can recommend a campground that would fit the bill?

Or should I just bite the bullet and stay in a hotel/motel?

You might miss a lot of site seeing and ambiance if you are in a campground........this one time a hotel in the French Quarter might be fun.....

Of course if you have been there and done that....... 8)

...probably the best bet for "peaceable" camping would be Foutainbleu State Park, it is across the Lake near Mandeville La...it would be around an hour drive and a toll(across the causeway) into the NO......

...here is a google search I couldn't tell ya anything about any of them.........

We've stayed at the Monteleone once and it was nice, although the rooms are kinda small. The rooftop pool has the best view in the entire French Quarter.

However, we prefer the Iberville Suites. The rooms are grande-sized and the rates are very reasonable.

My son is getting married in New Orleans next month too.

There have been some very reasonable rates in the city recently, a lot for around $100/ night. Try to negotiate the parking.

Like MJ said Fountaine Blue is very nice.
If I knew retirement would be this much fun, I would have done it right out of high school.
