The Urabus Scuttlebutt's Maiden Voyage - TEARSTOCK

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Mon May 17, 2010 10:13 am

We survived!!

It was a GREAT trip! We started out driving from York, PA to a camp near East Stroudsburg, PA (in the Poconos), which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive. It was white knuckle driving for the first hour or so, because I had never towed the Scuttlebutt while it was fully loaded.

We got there around 6, and finally got to meet some of the people from the forums! Here are a couple shots from there....

We left camp Friday morning, and met with a couple other trailers on the way to the original Woodstock site, in Bethel NY. Nothing like 9 trailers in a caravan through some tiny little mountain towns!

Image

We did hit some decent rain on the way to the Woodstock site, and I was a little worried about water leaking in through my roof, around my fan. If you havent read my build thread, my roof isnt quite finished yet, so the only thing sealing the roof around the fan was white duct tape :)

We got to the Woodstock Museum, and only a few drops had come in where the fan is... everything else was bone dry!!!!

After touring the Woodstock Museum, the skies cleared and we had lunch in the parking lot - thanks for making those delicious burgers Coop!

Image

Then we found the Woodstock Monument, and had a couple pictures taken there....

From Bethel, it was another 1 1/2 hour drive through the BEAUTIFUL Catskill mountains! Finally, we arrived at Tearstock around 3pm, and set up camp.

Tearstock was a great time, and we got to meet some wonderful people!! There were even a few bear sitings! Saturday night by the community campfire, the dogs started going crazy. We shined our flashlights over and saw 3 black bears in a tree, about 50 feet from us!! Once we lowered our lights, they scampered down from the tree and took off into the woods. I also believe Todd had one knocking on his door around 3am!

You can CLICK HERE to see all of these pictures, plus some of the trailers of Tearstock!

The total trip was almost 600 miles, and the Scuttlebutt towed like a dream the entire way!

Glad you & Jess enjoyed yourselves. I'm still unpacking, doing laundry and on a general clean up.

I got to do an updated photo on a trailer I built back in the early 90's

See what happens when you start feeding them.

It does Chris. This is the first gathering I have taken him to since he's been an adult...well, he's 19.

I think he "gets it" now.

He wants one.

Some more photos of TearStock.

Zach, loved your pictures. Does look like you guys had a great time. Wish I could have been there but would have been a LONG way from Atlanta. Maybe someday.

Thanks for sharing!

It's even better when the guy in the front knows where he's going! :? :? :?
