got a newer big mow here. 8 hp zero turning radius three wheeler, its fun to mow with but it doesnt have a floating deck so it occasionally scalps...

My darned Snapper lawnmower is in the shop -- and the darn thing is only 23 years old.

I bought my Snapper when I bought my first home. I did all the maintenance myself, and up until this year, it started on the first or second pull.

I finally had to put it in the shop for a carb rebuild. I was hoping to go 25 years before I had to put it in the shop, so I'm really disappointed. :(

I guess I'll keep it, though, even though it let me down. ;)

I've had this one since moving to Kerrville. It's lots more mower than I need but it also serves as a trailer dolly in the back yard.

I'll have to ask the guy when he comes on Wednesday.

I HATE cutting grass. I'll do anything else around the house. But I don't cut grass. Hate it. Hate cutting grass. Ain't gonna do it. I hate cutting grass.

Hm
Black and Decker corded electric here. Of course it helps that the main mowin patch is a gigantic 25 x 50 feet.

I've got a big 23hp V-twin Sears garden tractor, had it for 10 years now. I had to put a new battery in it a few years ago but other than that it runs like a champ.

I get all kinds of funny looks when I cut the grass because I have this big tractor and a pip-squeak yard. I guess it never occured to them that I had the mower before I owned the yard. It takes about 6 passes to cut the yard.

I use a 27 hp Snapper Z Rider. It has joystick control. I have been disappointed in it as the upkeep is high and it scalps pretty bad. The worst is if you turn to sharp or fast it one wheel goes forward the other reverses and it will rip up the grass. I'll trade it for a good old steering wheel ASAP.

I have a Craftsman 20" 5.5 HP that I bought new in 1990 and it has some rust through spots on the deck, but still starts with one or two pulls. Also have a 20HP, 48" cut MTD with a bagger system that I paid $75.00 for last summer!

I've got a Toro and I love it. Easy to start, self propelled, easy to maneuver and the wheels don't leave black marks on the linoleum.

Sears

Postby deceiver » Wed May 19, 2010 6:10 am

Sears mowers are basic. But they do have a Briggs and Straton engine. It always starts and lasts for years. You can purchase two or three for the price of many high end mowers especially if you wait for a sale. Even if they don't last as long you still end up ahead because of the price.
After all, It's just a motor in a shell with a spinning blade.
Conform and be dull.
