Unusual Allergy Season???

I always have to take Claritin for allergies from mid-August through mid-October for ragweed season, but that is usually the only time I usually have problems.

This year, it seems the tree and grass pollen is having a grand old time. I'm having to take medicine now, which is unusual.

The Live Oak pollen in March/April down here was incredible. If you left your car outside at night, it would be yellow in the morning. Now it is grasses doing all the pollen generation.

Has anyone else noticed a bump in pollen levels this spring?

Is it doing this all over, or just down here?

I was at the ENT Monday asking about the same thing. The ENT DR. said that pollen levels were so high this year that they didn't even register on scale.

That explains a lot!

We had an extraordinarily awful week of oak pollen in early April. I start sneezing when the tree pollen count is around 50.

That week it hit 4500.

It was awful.

My sister in law had to get her dogs their alergy shots. Poor things are really bad. The humans around here are doing better but still taking pills...

More cedar and oak pollen in St. Augustine this year than I've ever seen. Only pollen that bothers me very much is Cedar. Breathed too much cedar dust building outdoor furniture years ago and got sensitized to it I guess.

Yep, it's a bad one everywhere. Also, everything seems to be blooming earlier...at least around here.

So, it's not just me.

I am VERY sensitive to ragweed pollen, but don't usually have problems with other pollens in my area at their normal levels.

You're getting older. So am I... and up until this year, pretty much, I've been free of the allergic reactions to what's been called "hayfever" all our lives. This year, it seems, I suffer from "itchy and watery" eyes with the occasional sniffle, yet develop no colds.

Yep, it's a bad one everywhere.

Here too; there're oaks all over out here... lot's o' confiers, too. And sycamore, eucalyptus...

Glen, for some reason my allergies haven't been too bad this year. I remember a few weeks ago when all of our vehicles were covered with the yellow pollen and my eyes itched and nose ran. I use Wal-dryl made by Walgreens and it works REALLY well for me. I don't seem to have problems if it's rainy out which is why I probably haven't had issues............. it's been raining all spring up here in Kansas.

If it's dry and windy, hang on, I'll be doubling up on the meds. I did pretty good in Palo Duro last weekend
