If you wanna go there, I've got a '62 Cub Cadet in the barn that's been rebuilt for (lawn)tractor pulls.

One of these days I am going to go watch one of the lawnmower race events. Hillbillies with high octane cutting machines just sounds like a good time for all!

Lawnmowers

Postby goramsey » Sun May 23, 2010 10:05 am

I don't own one. As a kid growing up and having to do the lawn which I thought sucked, I vowed to never own one. I have kept the promise. I have always lived where one does not need to mow lawns. I would rather pick my nose than mow a lawn.

I usually pick my nose, WHILE mowing my yard...i won't say lawn, because it's far from that...more like sparse grass and dirt.

You lawnmower enthusiasts might like to know that us cheeky Brits have stolen another of the world speed records that I would expect to be held by US teams. This one is the world lawn mower speed record - only 86 mph though the British team think 100mph is possible:

Appropriately enough, the guy driving is a nephew of Donald Campbell and a grandson of Malcom Campbell. He was also the driver of the vehicle that last year took the longest-standing world speed record - for steam-powered cars.

As soon as I get the sanctioning bodies to establish a category for gas-powerd Lay-Z-Boy recliners, my build begins.

Sign me up! I will be your pit crew! I am sure that any race with Lay-Z-Boys will involve junk food. :)

I cut grass with either my 1965 John Deere 110, or my 1974 John Deere 140 that I just had to replace the Kohler engine in due to a major failure of internal parts. For the larger areas I use my 1968 Ford model 2000 with a 5 foot brush hog. The Ford is also used for plowing snow. For push mowers I have a couple old Hahn Eclipse mowers that don't have that safety handle thing, and an old weed eater that you have to pull the string out by hand.

Lawnmower Engine Class Action Suit

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Tue May 25, 2010 6:52 pm

8) I recently sent in the paperwork to receive a settlement in a class action lawsuit against the manf. of lawnmower engines. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SAFETY OF YOUR MOWER! The suit is being decided upon based upon the fact that the manf. misrepresented the amount of hp that the engines had. You can put in the paperwork or go on-line to submit it. It requires you give the engine model, serial # and other identifying numbers. I have two mowers, both Sears Craftsman, the Eager One, and the Mulcher, and they were both on the list to receive a settlement.
