Headliner Received - Question

Postby Classic Finn » Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:33 pm

Finally after a long winter I decided to open the doors to the Original Finn Voyager Tear. Ahh what a feeling.

Grabbed the Ply for the headboard and took some measurements to finally order the Headliner we found. A nice colored beige from our favorite dealer here nearby.

Here is a pic. It is a marine headliner so perfect for this use.

What do you think? It will match nicely with the mahogany interior. Wife wants to trim the doors with it a bit also. ;) Its a bit lighter in color than what the photo shows. ;)

It will nicely match the curtains, doors and tables.

Ok now that Ive received the Headliner Im wondering if the ply underneath should be sealed in any way before installing? Or should I go ahead and glue direct?

Any advice sure is welcome.

Hello Alaska. Hello Dave. Ive got a fun project going on here with the headliner. It will look perdy nice.

I am just curious if you had sealed the ply or not but I think the ceiling is sealed quite fine already. And nothing has leaked as of yet. Basically 3 years now.

Is it contact glue that you used to install it or is it 3 M Upholstery Glue?

I,ll take a pic of the headliner roll for you in a few minutes. ;)

Maybe I wont do any sealing of it then either even though we do have a special sealer us Finns use in areas of the Sauna when being built and I was told it does help quite a bit. Ive done my other ply with it too and looks good. Especial the under side areas of the ply installations. ;)

Here are a couple of pics of the Marine Quality Headliner right out of the roll. The color goes quite well with the mahogany interior. :D Image

Im going to add a couple of mahogany decor strips across the width of the tear ceiling to blend and bring in a bit of color to it.
