Rocky cove is the one I think Phil is heading to. I'm planning on making it down also.
You'll save $12 by not making a reservation. Last time I went down the booth wasn't open so I went in and found a place to camp. Then I went to the park office, Nick works in there, and told him what site I picked and also bought my yearly Kansas State Park pass, you can get a daily pass if that's what you want.
On Saturday morning I got a call from Mark and Em that they were coming down. I went on a tour of the lake and found several openings in Rocky Cove so they let me pay for their site and also had no problem with me moving to a different site. The camp host came by and all was good.
Normally I don't think you have to know what site you want, just pay for a site with electric and then find an open location.
There was also Lonesome Point at the lake that only had 1 camper there out of like 7 sites. They are electric sites but not close at all to the water.
