louver / jalouise window seals --- PLEASE HELP!!!

Postby bfitz » Mon May 24, 2010 9:04 pm

I'm trying to restore a few windows and need to find new seals. HELP, please!!! I've build much of the trailer thinking I could find new seals for the windows. Without new seals, I'm in trouble.

I need three things.

The first, seen in cross section is a gasket used to seal the windows when closed. Note the micrometer at the bottom of the photo...it's open to about 1/16 inch to show the size of the foot.

The second is the rubber flap to keep water off of the top portion of the upper window...the flap has the same foot as the gasket and consist of a flap of rubber about 3/4 inch.

The third thing is the cap to cover the screws...this snaps in place into a 1/2 inch slot.

Thanks!
Brian

If anyone finds a source, please post it ... I'm interested in refurbishing some windows as well.

Ah...perfect. I'd given up on finding this stuff. Can't understand why the Google search didn't find it.

Thank you very much.

Tom gets the homerun award for that link!!

With that, it looks like the seals are taken care of...does anyone know where I can get the plastic caps?

Thanks!

Don't know if this fits or is the color you're looking for but these may work:

Plastic caps to cover screws

Postby Jerry Bleeg » Fri May 28, 2010 8:54 am

You might look to use the vinyl inserts used to cover the screw holes of aluminum RV edge molding. (the stuff many of us use to wrap the corner roofs of our tears). I have seen rigid plastic stuff as well as the floppy vinyl type in various widths.
