Galley Gas Struts are bending my hatch out...Ideas?

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Here we go. I have Mark to thank for the design tip. These things work great now. I have no gaps, sag, or heavy compression. Thanks Mark.

you could have also done it like gage recommended. the big thing is you, as you noted, don't want the strut pushing perpendicular to the door when it's closed (open you just have the weight of the door, so it's not an issue (generally)). If done really cleverly it can aact like an over center actually pushing a bit to keep itself shut.

You are most welcome, I'm glad it worked for you. So many people helped me with my build and I just want to give some back.

Like Kenny said, Gage's way would have worked also. There is often more than one way to skin a cat...I mean dog. :oops: :lol:

I looked at both Gage & Mark's ways. They're both great. Mark's seemed to fit the structure of my galley better.

There's more ways to use struts than Heinz has pickles. :? :lol: :lol: :lol:
