widening the axel

Hmmm,

I got out the sidewalk chalk and a tape measure, and drew a 6'6" x 4' box on the garage floor, then added a little box next to it to make it 5' wide. After getting the wind bag to lay down in the boxes with me, we agreed that a few more inches on the 5 wide would be nice, so 5' 2" became my interior width.

Actually, I would like to go about 10' wide, and give her her own zip code to sleep in

Most axles are pre loaded at the factory with a cirtain amount of caster camber. ( the slight arch to the center of the axle) Make sure that if you are going to widen the axle to allow for this or you may end up with some tire wear issues....Boxcar...

I to bought the same HF trailer 4X8. I just ordered and just received some 14" rims and tires because I did not like the stock 12" that the trailer came with.

Now the bad part........

The rims set in too much, meaning that the tires hit the frame of the trailer now. And I can't use these real nice rims and tires.

Now I have several choices:

1) Buy another longer axel to accomidate the new wheels. If so, where in the heck can I buy the same axel, but longer?

2) Take the axel to a welding shop and have them extend it. Will this work or not?

3) Not use the real cool tires and just keep what I have.

Everyones thoughts?

One more question that you could possibly answer for me. On the site you posted the link on, it ask about the stud thread...1/2" thread studs or 12 X 1.5 thread studs? Any idea what the HF trailers thread studs are?

Most trailer axles do have a slight bend in the middle to provide a bit of camber. This is affected by how straight the axle is on the vertical plane.

Toe is how much the front of the tires are angled toward/away from each other and can also be affected by how straight the axle is on the horizontal plane.

Caster refers to steering axis/king pin inclination and is a function of steering geometry. Unless your trailer has a steering axle, caster does not enter the picture.

Doesn't really matter. They are refering to the studs pressed into the adapter. The lug nuts from the trailer hub hold the adapter to the hub, and the adapter lug nuts (included with adapter) hold the wheel to the adapter. 1/2" is standard on US hubs though.
