Two Coleman 200A Lanterns In Two Days - Now #3! on Page 6!

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby teardrop_focus » Wed May 19, 2010 2:15 am

Say "Hello!" to Number Three... :shake hands:  :SG

A longtime car buddy listened to me rave about my recently-acquired Coleman 200As last month... and as I described the lantern to him he thought "I think I have one of those buried in the barn that Uncle Joe used to use..."

Sho 'nuff, he brought her over to the (car) club meeting tonight to surprise me. Wished he'd taken a pic, 'cause I was jumping up and down... especially when I noticed the earlier-style vent telling me it wasn't newer than (I think) a mid-60's model... she's another '62!

She needs a bit-O-lovin' but she burns regardless... a bit blue and w/ bit too much of a flame corona... I think from what I've learned from Dear Ol' Mr. Hitchcock and maybe some parts she'll burn as brightly as my other two do now.

I absolutely LOVE these things... Image

Nice find Chris! :applause:

That ought to clean up real good, the frame doesn't look like it's seen a ton of hours, there's shine under there. And where it already makes light, all the better. Congrats on a score, with a story to boot!

I just got 2 Canadian models tonight in the mail. But they are gonna take a little more work than your new beauty lol...

Oh, no... please, Shaun; don't do this to me...

:NC

I have three now... a '56 and two '62s... I'd like a 55 for my birth year and a '68 for Tanya's... if those two were in that lot-O-five I'd bid... but, really... What the _ am I going to do w/ more than 5 lanterns? if you know what I mean

HELP.

:( :?

Those are bitchin'... I'll take three, please, to replace the following for use in my tear's galley... a 15-yr-old dual-fuel 424, a JetBoil (for quick coiffee fixins!) and a butane canister piezo-start sailboat burner.

Thanks for reminding me of those, Tom.

If you get a 502 stove remember that they run like a lantern. They are either off or on all the way. No flame control. What looks like a lighting lever on the bigger stoves is a tip cleaner like in the 220 lanterns. I know, I have a 502 and took it apart after I got my 220 lantern going.

For about a year I had thought something was wrong with the 502.

No parts were needed. A thorough going-over did the trick...

I'm going to disagree with Randy about the 502 flame adjustment. I have 6 502's now and they all operate just fine using the tip cleaner/regulator lever for flame adjustment as per the instructions right on the stove.
