The easy rider got out of the boat...

I just read that Dennis Hopper died -- age 74. Cancer got him. :(

He's most famous for Easy Rider, of course, but I loved his work in Apocalypse Now, where he said the famous words, "Never get out of the boat."

I just heard this news... :(

He was a true icon.

He lived hard and played hard when he was younger, and suffered greatly at the hands of substance addictions. He found help and in his later years he was sober and even more productive.

May he rest in peace.

Based on your previous avatar, you look a little bit like Denis Hopper.

I also found it a sign of the times that this icon of the sixties counter-culture became the spokesman for Ameriprise Financial -- an investment bank.

That was actually "Chef" that said, "Never get out of the boat"... with Martin Sheen's voiceover repeating it and saying, "That's Godd@mn right... not unless you're going all the way".

Classic still... but I digress.

Goodbye Dennis Hopper. RIP Another Lee Strasberg trained Method Actor legend joins Newman and Brando. Simply the best.

Just saw this today and am sad cancer took him out. Man, the life he led.......... the stories he's told............ the stories he forgot....

To me, he's right up there with Nicholson, Di Nero, Eastwood.............

Rest in Peace........... I don't think PEACE knows what is headin' that way!!!!!
