Baseball Question..Is it just My Newspaper........

Postby len19070 » Fri Jun 04, 2010 6:13 am

Is it just my local newspaper or do all news papers when publishing photos of especially Pitcher's Deliberately seek out the most absolutely Grotesque Photo they can find...as opposed to maybe the best?

We have 3 major News papers in the area and they all do it.

Is this a Nation Wide thing?

Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Philly's pitched a Perfect game the other day.

Look at the photo they picked to publish.

With that bent wrist I'm surprised the poor guy's not selling pencils on the corner instead of playing Baseball.

Its not just him either.

I've thought this for a long time. It also seems that they always interview the "village idiot."

Len,
From a closed chapter of my life, as a sports photographer, I'd have to say that is one incredible shot!!!
I use to marvel in awe at how pictures of pitchers would come out.
The contortions the human body can withstand are just incredible...
With a fast shutter speed and motor drive, you could easily shoot an entire role of film shooting a single pitch.
The shots that always got me were where the pitcher's face looked like it was coming off just from the force of throwing a ball.

Two things come to mind about the photo above...
1. The contortion of the pitcher's arm... Looks like his shoulder is getting ready to dislocate and his elbow might snap.
2. Can you imagine what it would be like from the batter's stand point facing this guy?...
The submarine pitch being released from ground level rising upward as it reached the plate would be tougher to track, let alone, be a little intimidating.
Wild!!!
Thanks for posting that!!! :applause:
