Alfred,
The fellow that owned that Conestoga trailer was from northern New Mexico. Really nice fellow. He used to come to the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, OR with the trailer. He had a business harvesting and drying sage, mushrooms and various plant leaves for spices. He had apermit to harvest on federal lands. He made good money and was exporting them around the world when I met him in the mid-80s.
There was another book like Rolling Homes called Afghani Trucks. I saw it once in a used bookstore years ago and regret that I didn't buy it on the spot. I was about big cargo trucks, painted with ornate, colorful patterns everywhere, tarps over really tall loads of goods and foodstuffs and spaces in front of the loads for the family to travel and sleep. That was from the early 70s before the Russians invaded. If I recall correctly, many of the photos were of those trucks negotiating the Khyber Pass.

Just have to make enough room for the stewardess too... 
But that's the Fun part !!! Right !!!
But that's the idea ... just canvas sides too ... and maybe some BIG reflectors/et5c. on the back to warn away trucks ...
