Wow...that brought back some memories.

When I was 12, we lived at Campland for 9 months! Me, my parents and brother in a 22 foot (no slides!) trailer. It was crazy! My dad was retiring from the Navy and we had moved out of base housing and he stayed to finish up his enlistment while my mom and brother and I had moved to Detroit to stay with my grandma. My mom couldn't take it and we moved back to San Diego in that trailer. :vroom:

I think that I am done camping until the fall. It is just too dang hot! I went out to the Isle DuBois branch of Lake Ray Roberts ) around 7:45 PM yesterday evening to hang out on the beach and read. I figured most folks would be heading home and getting ready for Monday morning. Nope! People were playing in the water until sundown and I saw a grill fire in the grove. There were still a lot of people there even when I left and it was starting to get dark. I guess we all had the same idea. :?

Texas is pretty brutal in that you guys don't have any outs either do you?

We can always just go up in elevation here with plenty of options for higher ground and cooler temps, and all close by. What a treat to go from 111 degrees to "where's my sweatshirt at?"

Hard part's comin' down.

No, we don't catch a break. I'd love to be searching for a warm sweatshirt about now...but wait, I just heard the weather man say that there is a 50% chance of rain tomorrow. I think I'll go out and wash my car, then get my hair done just to increase the odds.

Tell you what, living in TX It was no problem for me to cut the grass when it was 100. I'd wait till dusk when the sun wasn't beating on me. After just 2 years in Colorado, I've become a heat wimp. Cut the grass a couple weeks ago and the sun and heat pooped me out. I had to lay in the basement to cool off. When I recovered, I saw the thermometer and it was only 83 outside.

We caught a brief break this Friday. I took the day off to take care of some business. I was done about 12:45 PM and thought, "...what the heck" I went back out to the Isle DuBois branch of Lake Ray Roberts to the beach and it was great. I had a whimpy umbrella for sun shade, but didn't need it because the sky was overcast. Don't get me wrong, it was still a little hot, but I took a swim first. Surprisingly the water was uncomfortably cool for the first 15 minutes! Texas...it doesn't get any better than this! All in all a great time at the beach considering the heat.
