Hi, my name is Maureen and I've finally joined this forum after about 2 months of reading and laughing out loud. You are all amazing people and I haven't met any of you(yet!). My husband and I purchased a used little guy 5-wide trailer. We have had it out once at the end of May to a provincial park (some pix are in my album) and we are still trying to figure things out - like the screen tent that came with it! The trailer has been named "Rover" in honour of the big, white, sentinal ball in "the Prisoner" series. There is a magazine called MaryJanes Farm and I saw my first teardrop trailer in that magazine. The article was called "Go Glamping". Rough translation is Glamour Camping - in that you should personalize and pretty up some trailer and hit the road in your own unique style. Looking forward to learning and sharing ideas.

We were planning on camping at Lake Superior Provincial Park but have not yet got our passports (a solution in search of a problem).
Welcome to the group and hope you can make it south of the boarder to some of the gatherings.

Hi Maureen, you are just the kind of person that excites many of us regarding teardrop and vintage trailer camping. I'm glad you found us, and look forward to your arrival in So Calif, when you make that first cross-country trip
:D I am sure you are happy with your Little Guy, and you can expect many Glamourous years of happy camping in it. Remember, come on down, the coffee is always on.

Welcome Glamper!!

I have the littleguy reverse tear - had it's maiden voyage on Memorial Day weekend. Wonderful time was had by all!

I am new here myself and love all the various tears and tinies. I am amazed at the people with the talents to build their own TDs or restore old tiny campers. So much talent and creativity here!!!

Hugs,

We are all out there somewhere!

Postby Brian L » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:32 pm

Welcome - we joined today too with a Little Guy Rascal. I have a question about your galley - did you travel with the stuff on the shelf and if so did it bounce around a wee bit!

Brian, the pic was taken once I had unpacked. I have in my head, that I would like to create something permanent but want to take the summer to try things out. We are using a hodge-podge of old camping gear, hand-me-downs and a few new things. The dish rack is old - from Ikea and folds flat. The plates, mugs, etc were in a rubbermaid bin with the linens and cook pots which was stored in the trailer for travelling.

I did however add some screening to the open area where the counterop is. That way I can leave the galley open without the bugs flying into the trailer.

We are going away again for the Canada Day (July 1st) holiday so I will take some more pix of what went where and post them once we are back.

We have the same open area on our Rascal. In the gap where the shelf lifts we put a piece of foam door gasket held down with strippable caulking. Under the shelf we are planning to rig up a sling made of vinyl cloth attached to the shelf support down to the mattress then to the end of the trailer (attached at the sides). As we are both relatively short the space at our feet was wasted so turned that into storage. Haven't tried out the mods yet but this weekend will tell how well it works keeping the bugs out.

bouncing problems

Postby queeniejeanne » Mon Jun 14, 2010 3:52 pm

First, Hi Maureen and Brian. We love Provincial Canadian parks. Have stayed in several over the years....look at our gallery of photos...This was our Lil Traveler until a month ago, now she is in Long beach CA. The Route 66. The galley drawer we put a piece of light plexiglass, hinged to lift, screwed to the back top lip of the drawer to stay in place. This way things stay in the drawer but you can use it for extra counter space and open it. This may not be your problem, usually you guys don''t have drawers but it is an idea for a fill in area....
Whatever, so glad we can make you laugh....that's the key to a long life and little illness....Laugh Hearty and long, my friends. Queenie Jeanne and Dennis
HEY a tiny trailer. Whatever it takes.
