The PlyWoodie Updates

Postby Darren » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:35 pm

I worked on the trailer some more so I decided to start a build thread. I actually started in 2005 and had my first outing in 2007. I've been camping and working on it a little at a time since then.

My galley was really rough and I didn't plan ahead very well. Here's how it looked before the covers.

Covers installed and closed.

Covers opened.

I'm really happy with how it came out. Now for the rest of the week. I fell off a ladder, only minor damage.

Knocked a hole in the hatch. It had to be rebuilt anyway.
Image

Electrical fire. Never bypass a fuse! Never!
Image

And the wheel bearing freezing on me.

 Each event could have been much worse so all in all I'd have to say I was lucky this week.

Thanks guys!

That's a positive attitude. I'm positive that you experienced some good luck in these events. The galley covers look great. I'm so glad you didn't injure yourself on the ladder, that the tear didn't burn up, and that you weren't stranded along the highway somewhere. Besides that you still made it down to Chicken Annie's!

Hi all, I've been slowly working on my trailer again so I thought I would make an update. Just finished the curtains. I've been pondering on how to make these for a few years. Bought the ties 4 or 5 years ago and just now getting to it.

Dowel rod with ball end caps. I sanded two of the sides of the balls flat to make a mounting surface. Here is the rough curtain rod.

I used Tabasco ties that I picked up over time on eBay. I folded them over twice and used a lapel pin from Hobby Lobby to make a loop to hang them from.

Blurry photo from inside.

I then covered the lapel pins with Winged Liberty (Mercury) Dimes. Just hot glued them on.

Thanks for looking and hope this helps someone.

 :applause: Wow, love the changes! Now you just need to collect enough ties to make a comforter.... 8) Really they make great quilts.

Very original!
One of my other hobbies is metal detecting and I love to find those mercury dimes. The "merc" of the best looking coins, imo.

I have a cousin that makes Christmas tree skirts out of old ties.

The tie comforter sounds very cool. Only problem is BIG BUCKS! I don't even want to add up what the curtains cost me and that was decent eBay buys, I bid low and often on eBay.

I'm really fond of the Morgan Silver Dollars. I really like the way they clink together. :D My grandson likes to play with them but it's getting harder and harder to get them away from him. He calls it real money.

I found a set of drill bits that are US coinage sizes. Thinking about inlaying the state quarters in the galley table.

Thanks again folks,

Darren,

I really like your new additions to the plywoodie. I'll get my photos off the camera later and see if they are any good. I think the new doors (with national park stickers) are fantastic.
:applause:
