If you haven't seen this story yet, you probably don't have as much idle time as I do. (sad, but true)

I'd never heard of this statue before, but it is known around Cincinati as "Touchdown Jesus," due to it's hand gesture, and "Big Butter Jesus," because it kind of looks like one of those butter sculptures you see at the State Fair.

6-story Jesus statue in Ohio struck by lightning

MONROE, Ohio – A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground, police said.

The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.

The lightning strike set the statue ablaze around 11:15 p.m., Monroe police dispatchers said.

Steel and wood structure covered in fiberglass and -- plastic foam. Apparently the fiberglass was used to make the basic shape, and then it was covered with and sculpted from the plastic foam.

I can't imagine why it burned to the ground.

If faith in something helps you, great.
But when you believe so strongly in something that you can't comprehend reality, is it really faith, or insanity...

Yes, one of my favorite sayings about the need for balance I actually heard from a very grounded preacher on TV. He said that many people are so heavenly minded that they have no earthly sense.
