Extreme Makeover: Jewel Box edition

Thanks y'all ... water damage wasn't the only reason ... that was like lots of people experience ... water seeping it at the end of the h.hinge or up under the doors during travel in the rain.

Other things like wanting longer bed, figuring out I really didn't use the power of a deep cycle battery for much at all, and not knowing how to build something the first time. Plus had a little hail damage on the roof vent and the paint job had places that were cracking, etc.

Allergies... yuck! and then storms and rain all the rest of this week. Think I'll clear out the dining room and make it a work room.

Yep, sometimes the best thing is to start from scratch.
Years ago I built a new home in Cape Town and when I moved in there were 3 major changes I would have wanted had I started again.
We do live and learn.

Just make sure whatever you build in your dining room will fit thru the front door!

As my "Ben Roy McFull" nears the end of his usefull life, I've been thinking a lot about his final resting place. After five years and forty- some thousand miles, it doesn't seem fitting to just cut him up and just leave him by the curb for the trash truck. The answer came to me from my care-free youth: VIKING FUNERAL! I can see cracking the propane valve, lighting a fuse, and pushing him out into Lake Bistineau. Or maybe just a bonfire like Thomas's fence.

Thanks for remembering me Lenny. Actually it was a tool box I made that was from my sweet 71 Chevy truck that just got deteriorated, so it meant alot to me

What do you think Jules? Will you keep the remains for a proper cremation?

You know I mentioned 2 jobs, etc.. had to work all last weekend, then storms on Monday and rain all week. Took today off work anyway and it's raining from today till this Monday or so ...

I need to find a boyfriend with a garage... a carport might not even be a good idea right now.

No, my 'remains' won't be cremated ... I think they'll be put to rest at the local dump.

B U M P !!!

Well, it's still a go folks.... but for different reasons I've decided to hire a friend to do the labor and rebuild for me. I came to accept that even though I wouldn't be able to brag and say "yes, I built it ! " it was better to have a camper & be able to keep camping with all my South Central and other teardropping friends!

So just this week met with Kenny, (friend of friends from school etc) and he's got a very large shop, and used to be a cabinet maker for years , also done lots of other mechanical and woodworking and metal jobs . He's got a couple of weeks off before starting a new job , so he's starting on my new Jewel Box!

Not much of anything done yet, but be patient with me. And yes I'll post pics as I can. He says it should be all done by end of Sept.

Me too , thanks Thomas. Feels like it's been forever since I've been camping .. haha! Kenny the builder really likes these and has heard of them before, does a lot of motorcycling and wants to make a little one to tow with his bike to carry things.

And you know I openly confess I'll be stealing ideas from your build , and the BB 2.0, and from Charles & Linda, and from Rickxr2, and from ReoRon and from .......

Julie glad your starting on your rebuild but getting an OU fan to do it is worst than getting an Aggie to build it for you!!! They are cousins you know!! Next time look for a Red Raider or at the very least a Longhorn!!
