New, Sort of

Postby MountainBiker » Fri Jun 18, 2010 8:14 pm

Hi,

Glamper Girl registed the other day, but seeing that me, her Hubby, was doing most of the posting, we thought I should get set up too.

We bought the trailer to go camping and also to take with us to races. As I lost my licence for medical reasons right after we bought it, my wife had to take a crash course in driving with a trailer, and backing up,etc.

She has done a great job

She has no fear and we are looking forward to many great trips with our new trailer. Maybe now we can get to the U.S. to do some Mountain Bike races down there

Welcome, MountainBiker! It looks like you are serious about the sport! I just discovered a 25 mile singletrack on the Mogollon Rim called General Crook Trail. I've tasted 5 miles of it, can't wait to go back and get the rest!

I'm doing the Lake to Lake MTB race this weekend.

It starts at Port Colburn on lake Erie and ends in Port Dalousie on Lake Ontario. A few years ago it was really hard, but last year they made it easier

Its 50km, so I don't know what that is in miles. We're "different" in Canada

Good for you, it is so nice being married to a wonderful driver, backer, camper and campgound cook. Enjoy your experiences.......often.
Oh, hug her often and tell her you love her, every day and alway plan on doing something that will make her happy.......life together is short, take advantage of as often as you can. I know, I've been there.

Thanks for the supportive thoughts, Roly. Having to learn to back up a trailer has been a real learning curve - and I'm still learning! The neighbours have a hoot watching but I eventually get the trailer where it needs to go. (or we push it the rest of the way) I bought a set of those magnetic antennas with the yellow balls after reading about them in a thread here. They are great. As to the rest, it will just be more practice - which means more camping!

Hi Maureen, I am sure you know the age-old, back-up trick, of putting your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, and which ever way you move your hand, that is the direction your trailer will go. Go slow and easy, and you will be able to make it track backwards in a perfectly staight line, (with a little bit of practice). Try it out in a huge parking lot.
