I had been having increasingly annoying crashes with my older pentium 4 computer. It came loaded with XP Pro, but became unstable for what reason I'm not really sure. I did a format and clean install with my copy of XP Home. After hours of searching for drivers, ect to clean up conflicts, I ended up with an install that was worse than the XP Pro!
I dug out a disc that I had burned with a bootable copy of Ubuntu on it. I popped it in the cd slot and booted up. Less than 30 minuets later I had a complete install and was back to surfing the web with all of my old bookmarks and settings intact.
I have to say, I am impressed and I would recomend this install to anyone even remotely interested in trying Linux. I tried it years back and just found it to be a little to geeky for me at the time. The new Linux flavors have taken almost all of the geeky out of the equation and made them even better than any Micrsoft product I have ever owned.
Anyone care to share their opinions on this?
