Lantern People...

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Wed Jun 23, 2010 2:44 am

I need someone to take a measurement for me...
In sizing up the design for the etched globes on the IRG Award Lanterns, I noticed that the vent on a 242 covers more of the globe at the top than what the frame covers at the bottom of the globe.
On a 242 with the globe installed, I'm seeing a vertical space of visible glass at 3 1/8" from the bottom of the vent to the frame at the bottom.
Can someone with a 242 verify that measurement for me and can someone with a 200 get me that measurement as well? (bottom of the vent to the top of the frame)
I don't want to make the design too tall and end up with part of it covered up by the vent.
Thanks,

Dean, I am getting 3 1/8" on my 242C and 3" on my 200A. My 200A is a high vent. I know Doug has a couple low vents and a high vent for the rewards.

My '56 200A's vent rides +/- 1/16-inch lower than my two '62s which both measure 3 inches of globe at eye level.
