Where can I find one of these portable barrel charcoal grill

Postby mikeschn » Thu Jun 24, 2010 6:12 pm

Where can I find one of these portable barrel charcoal grills? I bought this one at Walmart in MO. a few years ago. At the moment I'm not in MO. and the Walmarts around here don't sell them. In fact, no one around here sells them.

Any suggestions?

 Does it have a brand name or a mfg stamp on it somewhere?

The one that I have says Grand Gourmet... but I would definitely like one that would last longer... i.e. better quality...

Stainless steel would be even better, for transporting in the teardrop without leaving a pile of rust on the floor!

I have no experience with this one, but I've got his big brother on my deck. If the quality of mine says anything, I've had it for five years and the only problem I've had is the ash tray is rusted through. *Note. I use it every day for eight months of the year (I'm single and can do that)
The cast Iron grate is a bonus too.

Hey eatatjoz,

That's a nice one, I like that. I think I'll put that on my birthday list.

I have a couple big ones on my patio too. One, which I use as a smoker, and a combo propane/charcoal one which I just picked up last month.

Here's a pic... it's not the best pic, but you get the idea!

I picked mine up new at a thrift shop for $10 . This is my only BBQ . I don't like propane for cooking BBQ . I use is all year round . The only thing that I added was a ceramic knob . The wooden one fell apart . .... D.J.

I keep my smoker down by the fire pit and away from the guests. One of the ladies that comes by hates smelling like smoke. (even if it is apple or cherry) It looks exactly like yours, but I don't know what it is. I found it in the trash and welded it back together.
Looks like you have it going on though!
I need a big table like that.

That looks good. And I'm beginning to think you are right. Charcoal is the way to go.

That particular grill is sold at Lowes here locally. It is an addon to the larger grill/smoker as a firebox or alone as a grill.

Kinda embarrassed, I burned the paint off of both of them, and I need to burn off the barbed wire fence behind the smoker, but here they are. They both look abused, but they're really, really used.

Smoker put back together from the trash with used garage door parts (handles, legs, grates...)
Image

Never could find a thermostat, so I welded a nickle into the hole (I like to claim that I paid a nickle for the whole thing) :D
Image

The one that gets used most is my grill on the deck, as you can tell by the beer mugs that need to be taken back in the house.

If they can take my abuse, they're good equipment!

Good job welding that back together.

I just gave my smoker a fresh coat of high temp flat black paint. Made a world of difference in it's appearance. It was so rusty..., similar to yours... One can of paint did the whole grill.

Academy Sports sells them here so other places should have them. The big box stores might have them too.
