Glue suggestion needed soon

Postby Larry C » Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:11 pm

I am ready to put the final 1/8" (bottom) skin on my sandwich floor.

I have PL Premium, but no where on the tube does it say anything about using it on blue foam. All my framing and ply has been epoxy coated. I decided not to use the PL to install the blue foam between my floor frame members because I was not sure of compatability. I opted for thickened epoxy which took much longer.

I am now ready for the final skin and would like to use the Pl but, I need to know if it will work. I have spent too much time sealing everything to destroy the insulation because I used the wrong adhesive.

I can use the epoxy again but I would rather use something quicker.
Has anyone used PL Premium with success in this application?

Thanks,
Larry

Liquid Nails is safe to use with the foam

If you screw it down any glue that will stick to the wood will work. You need not glue the foam....... ;)

Gluing the foam to the plywood makes it a structural sandwich.

I agree about the structural sandwich which is what I am building, the skin has to be glued to the entire surface, including the foam. Miriam, the floor is a structural part of my build. It will not be supported by a steel permeter frame, just an A frame tounge/axle.

What I really need to know is whether PL Premium is safe with Blue Foam?? Has anyone used it for this job?

Thanks for the suggestions

Yes, it is and I have.

However, I've found white woodworking glue to work better.
