Jerry (here on the forum) makes trikes out of VW buses with automatic transmissions. That's the only VW I would consider owning again.

one of those online plans sellers has a kit for this ... you need a '66-'72 Beetle. IIRC the galley slides out the side, and the front seats are replaced with swiveling captains' chairs that can be swing to face each other for a child's bunk.
