Where do you guys buy your aluminum? I can't find any sources locally, at least not for topping a teardrop :(

Aluminum

Postby eamarquardt » Sat Jul 10, 2010 3:30 pm

Check these guys out:

http://www.copperandbrass.com/cnb/about ... /index.htm

I got 5X12 .040 5052 from them. They do a good job putting it on a pallet. There is a big price break at 100# and it was less expensive to buy 5 sheets than 4 (so you get a sheet for FREE so to speak).

Maybe they can deliver or perhaps you can use your frame to pick it up.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gus

Thanks! Looks like they have a location in NC, about 4 hours from me. I'd be happy to pick it up there. I'll check with them on Monday.

We buy a lot of metal from Samuels.

http://www.samuel.com/en/Pages/default.aspx

Its probably about the same distance from your locale, they have location up in Baltimore.

Their prices are the best and the customer service is excellent (although we probably do spend quite a bit of $$$ with them every year).

Its another option at least.

Who are the big metal suppliers down in Norfolk? I'd figure with one of the largest shipyards in the US, there'd be some great choices nearby for metal.

Thanks!

I've checked a number of suppliers around here, but no luck for the 5' wide I'm looking for. A number of places can get it, fab it... but must be a large order or I can check back, from time-to-time, to see if they have any left overs.

Have you checked out sign makers? I got mine from a sign maker, and while I only needed 4x10, he could get me 5x10 if I needed it. Call around.
