Ecopoxy

Postby Mauleskinner » Tue Jul 06, 2010 10:22 am

Just wondering if anybody has tried or looked at Ecopoxy as a sealant for woodies.

http://www.ecopoxysystems.com/

Did mine with West Systems, and haven't had any troubles so far, but ran across this stuff on another forum today, and a search didn't turn up anything here.

 Not knocking the product but they sure are playing up the GREEN!

Perhaps they will donate some so we can test it.

I just emailed the Director of Marketing, and the CEO and requested that someone with technical expertise join the forum and participate in this thread.

Since a constant complaint I hear on this forum about epoxy is the fumes, it would sure be nice if this EcoPoxy turned out to be a viable alternative to some of the products we currently use.

So, I guess we wait and see if they join in.

I thought epoxy wasn’t UV stable… are you talking about sealing it with the epoxy and then putting some kind of clear coat on top of that?

You're correct...epoxy doesn't have much UV protection (even the stuff West Systems sells as a UV protectant doesn't protect a lot), so a spar varnish or some other UV protection over the top is necessary.
