Hey old car people.....barn finds!

While they are getting harder and harder to find, they are still out there, however it helps if you know the right people and Mike A apparently does. He scored a 54 Ford Ranch Wagon. For those of you that don't know...it's a station wagon, but only a 2 door one. 3 speed overdrive. Some air in the tires and a tug from the truck and it was rolling. Glad it wasn't much more than that as it was really hot. In the rest of the shed was a Caddie Coupe deVille, a 50 Ford, mid 70's Continental...a couple early 50's olds and a TR7
Looking forward to watching your progress on it Mike...and let me know if you need any help. Doug

I was flying into Indiana last year to attend an Auburn/Cord/Deusenberg event, and the guy in the seat in front of me was a major car collector i knew. As we were coming in for a landing in Fort Wayne, we were both looking out the windows at all the farm land and barns.

I leaned forward and said longingly, "Look at all those barns." He cracked up.

In every old barn, there is a potential barn find.

Is that blue Caddy a drop-top? Looks like a 54-56 model Series 62 or Eldorado. I can't see a roof -- or was that the Coupe deVille you mentioned?

I can't come up with the boat mfg. name on it, but it's a glass hull, deck and cabin...missing it's roof. I used to know it....but I've been doing trailers for 6 years now and forgot stuff....I didn't wander and take a lot of pics, pretty much stuck to what we were there for. Doug

I love 2 door wagons. This will be a great tug! Almost looks like all it needs is a bath... sure is straight.

What are your driveline plans for it, Mike? Stock? or Restifeyed?

Plans for the wagon are to restore it back to original, this is the same model wagon that my wife learned to drive in so this project is for her. The only big change will be it has a 6 cyl now and I would like to find a V8 Y block 292 or 312. Mike A

I was just looking through some of my classic car reference books -- is that a "mainline" or "customline" model (base or upgrade)?

V8 or six?

Mod list: 312 T-Bird Special... Pertronix Ignitor II hiding in the distributor, front disc brakes and a trailer hitch?

Of course you guys'll do what you think best. I can't wait to see it someday!

Boy Mike, day late and a dollar short. I sold my 312 early last year. With the work I had done on it, it would have been a good engine for ya. A good 292 or 312 is hard to find, but they're out there. Good luck, that was a good find and one owner.
