to get him a "DEAL".most likley some probation and trash pu  what a same i feel like every day this country takes 2 steps backwards.animal cruelty is a shame and the punishment will never be enough.as far as puppy mills go shame on them, there only motive is money, most of the people that by from them are doing so because of a fad
what is this country coming to when stuff like this is allowed to go on.

Animal cruelty isn't new. What this kid did, and puppy mills are not a new thing. We just didn't hear about it back in "the good old days." Ignorance is bliss -- if you didn't know it happened, than it didn't.

With our 24-hour news channels and the internet, we know so much more about what is going on all over the country -- and the world -- than we did fifty years ago. So, yeah, it can look like things are getting worse.

Maybe you are ready to write off the nation, but I'm not. What is this country coming to? A lot of good things, IMO -- and some bad things, too.

I tend to focus my energy on "what can be," rather than wax nostalgic over "good old days" that never really existed except in people's naive childhood memories.

Nice post CD. The memory does have a tendency to be rather conveniently selective while in a nostalgic haze. Thanks for the positive uplifting post.

Thought I'd report back as I promised. Haven't been on the forum lately but did remember this thread when I read about the boys admission and sentence.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/24194887/detail.html

60 days, 5 years probation and community service at an animal refuge center.

OK, I read the whole thread and need to chime in....

This puke is getting off way too lightly.

I have been a working ranch hand, rodeo participant, fisherman, and a bow hunter...
A dog, horse and fish owner/lover. I even had love and respect for the bulls and mama cows that chased me over a fence.

Where are this brat's parents? Are they defending him? (I could understand protecting him, as a parent.)

60 days and probation..?? How long was the horse in recovery? How long did/will the owner suffer for loving the horse?

While drawing and quartering may be too stern....4 horse traction would be good! How about we let a few of my archery friends load their quivers with rubber blunts and bounce them off HIS head. Or, we could put him in a dark room, then step in and shine a flood light in his eyes and shoot him with spitballs......I doubt that he'd understand the lesson. I'll bet the sentence he got won't teach him much.

This 18-year-old "man" was raised to be a poacher and scofflaw.
This "sentence" will do nothing to change his acculturation.

Perhaps there will be some frontier justice.

Such creeps are wired differently, otherwise they couldn't live with themselves.

Shame that they live among us. And dangerous, it's common for sadism against animals to evolve into sadism against people.

I'm sure that its a very safe bet to say that all serial killers had a history of animal torture.
