This is a sad state of affairs. It's too damn bad.

Security (baby sitting) is a way of life at the skate board park.

We don't have this problem where I live.....in fact... I don't think we have a skate board park.

Anyway, it's a shame that kids having fun has to end up with this. :x

Some parents 10News spoke to said all the security still won't be enough.

"I think what they really need is to have someone supervise, but I don't know if that is possible," said parent Michelle Keeler.

City officials said staffing full-time supervision would cost around $80,000 a year and is not possible financially at this time.

Seems to me that if the parents of these kids...such as the one quoted above, would get a clue and supervise their own kids, city supervision would not be needed.

Need some fathers to take responsibility........No---wait--that is child abuse.....problem is even if you control your kids there are all the other kids and adults who live and breath violence.....

We have skate parks and they are not open all night. Our police crack down on anyone who is causing trouble in other parks....

After 30 years as a teacher in a jr. high school in a nice rural area I can tell you that there are many, many great parents out there. Unfortunately I have a plethora of stories that many would find hard to believe. Of those stories, most of the parents are good intentioned but just don't have a clue. Some are just horrible people. How about this one. A boy comes home from school, opens the door and the house is empty. Burglars? No, the parents moved. That's just one example.
Conform and be dull.

Once again, just like the kids who ride bikes in Costco, it's the parent's job to supervise their kids.

Skate parks in our area close at 10 on week nights and midnight on the weekends. The police usually pull in to do paperwork. It seems to keep problems down. The police don't babysit, they're just around on a random schedule.

That's a sad story. My wife works in a rural area and has stories like that on a first-hand basis. I call it the Albert King effect, "...if it weren't for bad luck, they'd have no luck at all."

When I was a kid back in the sixties, I was hanging out in the school yard during recess with the two boys I always played with at recess. All of the sudden, a rock the size of a baseball comes out of nowhere and hits one friend in the head. He was knocked out.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he was stitched up and admitted for a concussion.

So, what was the reason some kids threw the rock? One of my two friends was "colored." We shouldn't have been playing with him. I'm figure he got that idea from his parents.

There has always been evil in the world -- bad behavior (and poor parenting) wasn't invented recently.

If your not doing anything wrong, who cares who's watching. If you care who's watching, why do you care. Each person can only answer for them self.
