Potential Teardrop Builder

Postby Big Johnson » Sun Jul 18, 2010 12:41 am

I really want to build a Teardrop Trailer but im still looking for the right set of plans to use. I leaning towards the 10 foot Comet put out by Kettle Creek but the plans are 100$ by there self. Not even sure if that is the route I wanna take yet. Ive only just be turned on to the TT in the last week or so. I know I need a 10' long trailer and 5' if not 6' wide because of how big my stature is. Please help me make a decision so i can get started buying or designing a trailer to build my Teardrop on.

Check out the Generic Benroy plans up there in the menu.

Also check out Andrews plans in the Design Library, also up there in the menu.

And last, but not least, check out the vintage plans, also in the menu.

Hey welcome to the forum. Check out the free plans in the forum. Our trailer is a 6 wide and it holds a King size bed. We don't have any size issues.

The build methods are all a bit different but the only area that really leaves your head spinning is "The Profile "

Get a cheap pencil compass and some graph paper and doodle (to scale)
until you have something you like.

Here is an early discussion on profile development from 3 years ago.

http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=181456&highlight=#181456

I used this same method 3 weeks ago to develope the profile for my latest , a 4x7

Chubby was a W.A.G. at a 5x10 he wound up 5'7" out to out sideways (5'4" inside) The with was a necessity to clear the steel fenders of a 4x8 HF frame axle set. This let us go wheels under and afford us a lot of room inside. We are large folk and we are quite content with the room inside. In fact the 2 dogs spend the night inside with us and there is still room a plenty for all.

 Mine will hold a king size mattress if configured slightly different too. Easier to make on a 10' trailer too.
