I think some of the snickering has been delayed as many from Calif were at the IRG 3.0 in northern Calif and haven't heard any news in a week.

I've never experienced any big earthquakes, just big enough to knock things off the shelves and made a huge mess in the grocery stores. Just big enough to think, I wonder how big this quake is going to get, make I should get under a doorway.

3.6 is only big enough to think oh that was a quake, but for someone who has never felt one I'm sure it was a surprise.

A Major Blizzard - closed the Feds down
Flooding of the Potomic River
Heat Wave - temps over 100F - for days.

Baby Quakes

Postby eamarquardt » Mon Jul 19, 2010 9:45 am

Yup a 3.6 is a "baby quake". Not even worth rolling over in bed for. I've been close to the epicenters of a 6.6 and 6.7 (each a thousand times more powerful than a 3.6). the Sylmar quake was a definate E-Ticket ride and I was shaken to my knees as I tired to get out of the house (even standing in a door jam holding on with both hands). The Northridge quake was a "non event" at our house (we must sit pretty close to bedrock) but it was strange driving to work seeing overpasses collapsed, houses buring to the ground for lack of water, and the sides of buildings missing.

Many folks don't know that the biggest earthquake in America during recent times took place back east:

Stand by.

Yep, the New Madrid fault has folks over this way worried. Another one that is 'overdue for The Big One'.

We are supposed to have had a small quake off the Florida coast, out from Tampa, a year or so ago. I felt nothing in Tallahassee.
