New from NorCal

Postby joylovessonshine » Thu Jul 08, 2010 6:56 pm

Hello! I'm Kristie. My husband Jamison and I are backpackers and campers living in the foothills above Stockton Ca. We saw a special on tv about teardrops and fell in love. Right now we're just in the planning/looking stages (we're not sure if we're going to build one or buy one and fix it up). We are very excited about the adventures that await us!

Welcome, K and J!! There are some good peeps up in that end of the state that you can go see to get an idea if you want to build or buy. Grant Whipp is a good cat, he's in Redding. Doug Hodder is another, Kevin and Dean over in Eureka........... Oh, speaking of Eureka, there is a gathering over in that area in a couple of weeks. Go and check it out, it'll change your life.

Howdy! There are several of us om Nor Cal! It's fun to check out a gathering or two for ideas & such. Next week is the IRG over near Fortuna. Beautiful country to visit...and plenty of friendly folks to answer your questions and give you tours. We stopped by at the last one two years ago and are returning with a tear we built.

Good luck!

Hello and welcome. You are going to have such a great time. There are numerous gatherings in the SoCal, NorCal and Jefferson State Chapters. Hope to see you soon.
Just FYI...IRG3 is sold out. You would be more than welcome to come and visit but Dean and Joanie are limited to the number of people that can camp at Pampln Grove. There are a couple of camp grounds with-in a couple of miles.
Look in the header under Pamplingrove to get an idea of what you could see. Another good one is near Jenner in Oct.

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! We are talking about coming up to the event, but I'm not sure if we'll make it. I am excited about getting to know people here more and to hopefully get a trailer of my own!

If you are nearby come on in and
check out our TD.

Building the TD was the best thing I ever made.

Hey Kristie,
Welcome to the forum and as you can imagine a lot of people saw them on the TV and got hooked. I lived in Stockton back in the early 80's lived off Benjamin Holt drive in the north part of the city.

We found one!

Postby joylovessonshine » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:43 pm

I've been checking craigslist steadily and we drove up to Paradise yesterday to see this one http://chico.craigslist.org/rvs/1832406636.html Jamison and I both like it, but the guy whose name is on the title is out of state, so we're going to have to wait to go pick it up. We don't have anything to haul it with yet, we'll have to borrow a truck. We were wondering what people usually use as tow vehicles. Any advice would be great!

Howdy Kristie and Jamison. Welcome to the forum. If you do a search you will find a lot of info on tow vehicles. I tow with a VW trike and a Volksrod so it doesn't take much depending on the weight. Hope you have fun with your new toy. Just jump in and go for it. Jerry

New trailer this week!

Postby joylovessonshine » Mon Jul 19, 2010 1:14 pm

I am so excited! The woman that we talked to about this trailer (http://chico.craigslist.org/rvs/1832406636.html) emailed me today to let me know her husband will be back in town this week! We couldn't get the trailer when we went up there before because his name is the only one on the title. I'm hoping we can get it this weekend and then test it out! I can't wait!

Congrats K & J!!! You'll love it!!! As far as tow vehicle that depends on the weight of the TD and amount stuff you take along with you. Do you know how much the TD weighs??

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!
