How about using power window motors and regulators? i know some of them can put out alot of force.... Could be wired to run together if needed, or might be able to use One mounted in the center of the hatch....

Its definately just a cool factor, in reality I'll probably just go with gas struts, but was wondering if anybody else had done it.

I recently sold my one man clay thrower I built in High School. I put a power door lock atuator on the pull mechanism, and wired in a delay circuit from Radio Shack, and tripped the thing with an old (internally modified) guitar pedal. Tap pedal with foot, wait 5-30 seconds (delay was variable) then the trap trigers and a buzzer goes off (can be turned off). AND, the whole thing was powered from my 7 pin trailer connector. :)
Ignorant doesn't know any better, Stupid knows better but does it anyway.
