So much for 5 years. It looks like you'll be applying the wire brush by 24 months.

I don't plan on wire brushing them, even after 5 years. Especially the rust bucket. I may or may not change my mind on the other.

They say rust never sleeps. It also grows older, as can be seen by these pictures, 27 months old & getting bigger.

Not bad results considering how close to the ocean you are. I'm about the same distance from the Atlantic and a lot of mornings my truck has light coating of salt residue on it when the wind is blowing in off the ocean.

If they were bead blasted and rust free looks like primer and that paint would be a realy good choice for rust control.

the painted one is holding up really well, and i am guessing the rust on it was already under the paint when painted.

the painted one was rust free when painted. Several hours work with a wire brush attached to a mains powered drill did the job.

I think they'll last a lot longer than that. Even if it's only rust holding the left one together.
