A red Sears lantern??

I thought they only made blue and black ones! Guess that was from 1966-68. This is dated 1964.

That lantern is not correct. It should have a black vent like you blue one.

I think you called it Dawn. I wouldn't mind having it (if it was cheap), because that big fount and a single mantle makes a nice combo. But that sure isn't an original Sears with that vent.

A 242 burner on that fount is a sweet combo. Some major burn time there.

I thought the collar was black at first also. If you look at the 2nd picture it's not. It is just very dirty/sooty. It does have the wrong knob.

Found this lantern at Salvation Army Thrift store for $3.50. (Have to determine how to post a photo)
THanks to this website and the links, have learned this lantern was made by Coleman.

Lantern is in my opinion in very good condition, espically since I know nothing about lanterns. Don't even know correct names for various components.

Model number: 476.72212 No 7227.

Conains fuel, which smells like gasoline to me.

I would appreciate advice, background information, value etc.

What is the most appropriate method to dispose of the fuel?
Heck, I don't even know how to operate the thing.

Wow, $3.50 for any lantern is good. I hope it works!

On the bottom, there's a born date (month year).

To post pictures, I use tinyurl.com and upload my picture to it. It'll give a link to post here on the message board so it's the correct size and doesn't blow the poor dialup people off the board.

I looked up your lantern. Appears to have been made for Sears by Coleman.

Your lantern is the Sears version (Made by Coleman) of the Coleman 220F. Most of the parts are parts are interchangeable. It uses the same generator as the 220F also.

You have gotten that lantern for a STEAL! It looks in great condition. Way better condition than the one I just got off eBay that I'm in love with. I totally like the blue and black combo.

Because it was made for Sears, it had a different collar. The 220E was made from 1952-1963. The 220F was made from 1964-1973. Since Jean's lantern was made in 1968 would fall into the 220F production time frame.

That being said the 220D, E & F are basically the same lantern with some cosmetic changes.
