Painting/staining fiberglass resin / epoxy

I'd like to make my walls as a stick frame + foam sandwiched in fiberglass (no ply skin)

Now my question is, once done how do I paint it, what kind of paint.

I think i tried to apply paint to epoxy before (model airplane) and I believe it did not stick all that great ?

Or maybe you can add pigment to the epoxy while mixing it ??

why a stick frame and epoxy sure seam to be a wast of cash look at my alu there use as rentals and if your going to add wood use rip ply wood it wont expand 5 to 6 times of fiber glass look at high end kit cars they use oak are steel you be better off using 3/4" emt at $2.29 for ten feet

Being in Seattle, we have tons of boat supplies stores, so I guess I'll ask those guy, seem like they have paints that are designed to go on epoxy:

Probably would buy the fiberglass stuff there as well anyway, seem like they have quite good prices.

If you use the foam siding 1" 4x8 at $ 18 .00 a sheet you don't need wood you don't need epoxy that just trashing cash the picture I show there use as rentals they been built not just read about
Some fools will try to bound are encapsulate soft wood to fiberglass the wood expands 5 to 10 time more than fiberglass something has to give the EMT for running wire in is better than wood

you can use almost any paint on epoxy or polyester resin.. you do need to remove amine from the epoxy and sand it fist, and you need to de-wax and sand polyester resin. you could also use polyester gel coat.. this is the colour on factory made fibreglass.. the cool thing is it's thick and you can sand and polish it many times before it's all gone..

There are pigments that are added to resins; check with the supplier. But the gelcoat is the best way to go; much harder than the resin.

your Not' building by a mold so you will be block sanding forever forget the gel use DURATEC 707-007 sanding primer after the glass then paint

You are right glassice, it seems that gel coat is too be used with a mold.

Will check on that Durcatec 707.

if your going to have wood touch the glass DO NOT USE RESIN WITH WAX it levies holds it will tack up in the sun and with wax in the pores it will come to the top when hot and mess up your pant

Hum ... maybe i should stick to the plain plywood sandwich, I've never worked with fiberglass, and this seem to be somewhat complex and intricate process ... might get over my head

Well, still have a few days to make my mind

go get a kit from home depot and a sheet of ins. do a foot sq. if not happy put the left over ins in your roof
