We have an asphalt coating that also looks as good as the first day we took her on the road.

We live in Oregon where it does rain. We camp in the summer which means that we have driven through rain. We've even camped in rain. Nothing like AZ gets, but the TD has seen bad weather. The closest we get to off-roading is crossing a field to get to our camping spot. Once again, it's not even dirty under the trailer.

Good point. We camp mostly in parks so I didn't think about the off-road aspects.

I was thinking more along the lines of IEDs

Even with off-roading (unlees you are one of the 1 of 100 idjits that try racing speed on gravel) . . .

3/16 is overkill! At a normal 25 mph; which should be max on dirt/gravel; throwing pebbles will not penetrate .040 t-temper AL.

I agree with Ageless. Skid plate is for bottoming out, not for thrown gravel. 99% of what the trailer tires throw up will hit the wheelwell. 99% of what the tow vehicle throws up will hit the front of the trailer.

Clearly you've been here! Instead of putting the vehicle and fuel taxes back into our roads the politicians put them into the general fund to spend as they please and don't maintain our roads as they should be doing.

Vote all the current SOBs out!

That's how I'm voting. No incumbents. It's time to send a clear signal.

Yes we get to California quite frequently & the bad roads will not keep us away because there are a lot of nice places to camp & there's a lot of great people also.

So it's worth paying for a yearly vehicle alignment.

Maybe things will get better once the Parkinator is out of office. :applause:

And if Calif. can do somthing about all of (Well I better stop now)

Well back to the original post, I still have to track down some pic's of my under belly or maybe take some new pic's tommarow.

When we went to see my father (in the nursing home prior to his death six months later) we rented a new Subaru Outback (that was what they had at SFO) I did not know how bad the roads had gotten and was glad to have the some what more robust suspension. When I grew up in California roads were well taken care of, but then that was prior to Prop13 (limiting property tax). There is a balance between too much and too little government and taxes
