Finally getting ready to take the teardrop plunge. My first recollection of camping is in my grandparents tear in the late 50's/early 60's. Tear was pulled with a Karmen Ghia in the Seattle area. Have always wanted one and am now doing all the research to get my own.

Have done a lot of reading and know that I want a 5x8 or 5x10 as I want some room when I sleep. Don't need a lot of bells and whistles. Can't get with the TV and DVD's in them. Stereo speakers maybe but even that doesn't need to be hard wired.

I have been tent camping and backpacking and arthritis in the knees is slowing me down and the ground is harder than it used to be.

I will do a lot more reading. Oh, if you can't tell I like the small things as I also play ukulele. Small, cute and useful.

Picturing a teardrop being pulled by Karman Ghia... Man oh man, had one of those back in college - think it was a '73? convertible, painted bright red. That would have been an awesome hauler!

Hi and welcome to the forum.n It sounds like you already have fond memories and a good idea of what you want. Go for it!

Check out the links below as you are in my neck of the woods and we do lots of lil gigs around the Jefferson State area now that the IRG has already been held for the year. We'd welcome you and your uke at the campfire. One of my favorite musicians is Jake S. and I loved hearing him play in person last year.

Welcome aboard! A really nice tear just became available up in Portland this weekend....check the for sale threads. I've camped with Jim on numerous occasions....it's a nice build. Doug

I had the Karmen Ghia in the 90's but never managed to get the teardrop to go with it. My Ghia was a 73, Orange in color (not my favorite).

I saw the Portland Tear on the sale pages and it looks sweet. There are a lot of tears out there to choose from that is for sure. It is great to read about all of them.

Would enjoy some jamming around a campfire with my uke some time.
