Hi there all you Dutch Oven Folks,

First of all, please excuse my Dutch Oven ignorance.... A neighbor has a used Dutch Oven for sale. He wants $30 for it. Its a 5+ quart size, it has three 2" legs and looks pretty good to me. There are no markings or names on it. Is this a good or bad deal?

Thanks, Ron

More information is needed, I'm afraid.

If it's no-name and relatively new, and camp style (has a rim on the lid to hold charcoal), IMHO it's too high. If it's not camp style, it's WAY too high.

If it's older, it could be Lodge. Even then, for a teardropper, you will want the rim on the lid, I'd imagine. If it has the rim, it's probably worth it.

You can buy 10" and even 12" brand new Camp Chefs for that on sale if you keep your eyes open. You can buy no-names for much less online.

I have 4 10" ovens with the indoor lid that I purchased at various yard sales and such. The most expensive was $25.00, and i feel I paid too much. The others were $10 - $15.
God Bless

Cliff

I recall seeing some NEW no-name DOs at Academy some time back on sale for $20.

I'm with Cliff, that seems high for a used, no-name DO.

but first make sure the lid fits tight and doesnt rock. Is the inside somewhat smooth. You dont want the inside chipped and dinged.
