CT layout idea ...

Still looking around for a V nose CT at least 6'Wide and about 12'+ Found a few candidates locally ...new and all unaffordable at the moment ....
So here's the latest thinking on a simple light weight layout ... See what you think ...

Looks great.....Makes me wish I had a V nose.
Looking forward to watching your build.
Are you considering a sliding screen door for your side door? I know we are both from the south and we have the bugs. My sliding door and hardware cost less than 40.00 to build.
Let me know if you need any help with it.....works great and doesnt take up precious floor space.

Kevin, Thanks !!!! Still searching for the "right" trailer ... hard to believe all the CTs in use here , and there are a good many (mostly contractors) , nobody's selling one ... That speaks volumes about their versatility ... All the guys we talk to really love theirs ... NFS

V nose appears to be the logical choice for less wind resistance , little extra room in the nose will be much appreciated...

I still find it amazing that a smaller 12' CT can carry TWICE the cargo than my 20' TT , even with the lightweight interior ... The complete rig will be half the weight too .... great for towing ...

I haven't seen the inside if a V nose trailer personally but have seen pictures of them, interior and exterior. In your layout isn't the side door a bit farther forward than is traditionally installed? I would think there would be more room in the V nose than what you're showing, hence more room to be had in the privacy area... meaning you might be able to get a shower in there too, a little bit askew perhaps, but you might be able to get something in there. If the side door of a V nose is as depicted in your layout then I think I have more room in the round nose of my CT. I maybe wrong, and have been plenty of times.

Be all that as it may, you've got a nice layout in that V nose.

BTW, you need to make a trip north of MSY and get yourself a CT on the cheap. Check Craigslist and take a vacation north to find one.

Don , I think you're right about the door placement ...that would allow a LOT more room up front ...

Yep, gotta' get out of town to find something ... folks here still rebuilding , contractors busy ... CT's are a premium ... used CTs are very Rare ...

Guy down the street had a nice V nose featherlight for sale , but it was a horse trailer , and I didn't want to deal with the "sterilization " process..
Still checking on Craig's list and the classifieds ... Scouting when I leave the house ... Something is bound to turn up ... I have till June of next year to find something , otherwise I'll have to buy a new one ... Maybe by then my TT will sell and I can get what I like ... Maybe ... The used RV market is very soft right now .... nothing selling, even for cheap ... Grrrrr!!!

Here's a V nose CT drawing that gives a pretty good idea of the sizes of a 6x12 http://www.classicmfg.com/photos/dwg/dwgcvt126sim.jpg I see what you mean about the door location and extra space ... That could be easily enough room for a shower huh ... Maybe even finding one without a side door , might be even better , so we could add a door w/screen door any where we needed to accommodate a bigger shower/potty room ... moving the door aft a few inches would add a lot of cubic feet to that area

The V nose I have looking at If you were to draw a line straight across from door side to road side the deepest part would be 24 inches measured at the midpoint to the center of the V.
not much room for a porta potty unless it is placed in the center.
I would think some round nose-trailers would have some space in the nose also.
I saw a 6X10 CT on e-bay with 2 windows and two bunk beds only thing I didn't like it had a rear entryway where the ramp would have been and no side door it did sell for about $1600.

Now I have a question .... Not meaning to be critical...why do you guys use such large pieces of wood to make everything ?... Seems like that adds a lot of weight to the conversion ... Wouldn't wood half the size be just as effective and substantially reduce the weight ... ??? The more weight you add the less stuff you can carry ... Just curious!!!

In my case I wasn't sure if foldout beds would be strong enough. used 1st time 3 wks ago and all was good. planning on changing to either bed frame rails or alum framing instead of 2x4 framing and just keep w the plywood top. The front cabinet is just furring strips for bottom cabinet and alum framing for top one.

Here's yet another idea on an even bigger bathroom/shower, less wasted space (depth ) in the cabinet on the other side ... a compromise...

Read on many tiny houses, the bath/shower is 2'X4' Min... I need at least 28" wide , 36 " would be perfect ???
Also thinking 28" wide is about the minimum bed width , for my large self anyway ... 24" just too small.. Seems natural the shower should be wider than the bed eh?
