Yes sir, that's right. The whole back frame is aluminum with tent fabric fasten permanently, folding at the top up in for transport. The tent indeed snaps to the upper edge, on the outside of the trailer walls, about 4" down. I wasn't sure if bugs would be a problem as the fabric doesn't always stay real tight to the sides - but we haven't seen it be a problem yet. I figure I can always add Velcro just above the snaps if I have to.
