I have been off the forum for about a year and I should have read before I posted...my mistake! There used to be quite a few people who posted here regularly.

And as far as someone trying to overcome serious health issues, I would never, ever....not in a million years make fun of that. I have a son who is a paraplegic from a motorcycle accident three years ago and I am very sensitive to that kind of thing. Like I mentioned in my angry post, I have never read any of your posts so I had no idea.

I am trying to get back into exercise myself and was reconnecting to a sort of support group. I guess I kind of blew that.

Anyway, I am very sorry you took my post the way you did and I can see how you would knowing what I know now.

Okay guys, I guess I shook things up enough here today.

I hope we can all be friends. I will post here, if it's okay, but my excercise is way lame in comparison to some of the stuff I have now read.

I'm starting yoga....with blankets...seroiusly.

Trying to get past the pain from siatica and strenthen my back before I can do anything more intense.

Last night we had a relatively easy 28.something mile ride.

My legs were perhaps the most tired and heaviest that they have been all year.. :o

Tuesday and Wednesdays ride were tough ones... :D

We will probably take today off... :D

Hey Glenn, watch for the over training. I think you are starting to show signs of it...heavy legs are not good
Saw the doctor yesterday and he said the medication levels should not be affecting me and my balance  so I rode 55kms today, long , slow, distance, or as we call it in Canada, LSD Training :?

yeah.. took today off.. and I am not sure about tomorrow.. I will wait and see how I feel. At any rate if I do anything it will be easy.

Sunday we have a double club ride.. our road club.. and mountain bike club.. at meeting together.. we are having a cook out.. and are going to try to get the mountain bikers to try the road.. and to get the road riders in the dirt.

So how was your LSD.. how did you feel..

I was reading some back posts and was just wondering if both you guys are mainly just into biking?

I remember Glenn from when I used to post here before but, Mountainbiker, I think you may have come in after I took a leave of absense from the forum.

I have started some yoga and some walking. Nothing to write home about but just trying to make the transition from the couch to moving without killing myself. I have alot of weight to lose so I am trying to work up to some aerobics.

I have been very inactive for the last 8 years due to health issues. I am in pain most of the time and take 2 different narcotic pain meds everyday. I would really like to be able to cut those out. I also use narcotic meds to sleep at night. I don't see me ever getting off of those since I've been an insomniac dating back to very early childhood....but you never know. It has been said excercise does amazing things for the body and mind.

I have lupus, asthma, arthitis, herniated discs, and both knees need replaced. I can deal with all of that but what really kicks my but is my sciaticia. After 8 years of off an on flare ups that last for months at a time I have realized there is nothing the medical community can do for me. I have had nerve blocks, cortisone injections in my hip, coutless rounds of steroids, and everyday anti inflamatory meds.

I have made the decision to do what I can do to try to help myself. It's the only real choice I have other than lay here until I die. My first goal is to strengthen my lower back to try get my discs up off the nerve.

I know you guys are in a way different place with way differnt experience so it's okay if you don't have anything to add. I'm just going to post here my progress and hopefully some other beginners will join in.
