Traveling!

I just sold my house and am getting ready for the traveling of a lifetime. Woof, woof!! I am so excited I had to change my shorts. As people have stated in reading many comments, life is short, so slow down and enjoy. By golly I don't mind if I do. I also bought for my travels a new Macbook Pro 17 inch. Far out! With a t-mobil laptop stick for mobil connection where possible, I am ready.

My first stop will be Great Basin Nat. Park. If anyone is interested in joining me, your welcome to join. I will be heading out this Sat. morning after a cup of Joe with friends at Starbucks.

This freedom will give me more time to pursue my Southern Utah Travel web site content. More videos, photos, stories,. etc.

What a plan, go with no time restraints, no itinerary, and no limits. That's what I'm hoping for someday.

Great Basin is a Great Place! We were there just last April. If you come up via Panaca and 93, be sure and stop at Cathedral Gorge State Park. They have a great little park there, with hot showers! The Nevada mini Bryce.

If you continue on west on 80, be sure and let us know, stop by in Lovelock, we would love to share stories, look at your teardrop! PM for contact info.

Another good place for a side trip is Unionville off 80 at Mill city exit, between Lovelock and Winnemucca There is a nice little park there that you can camp for free with water and toilets. (you won't find it on any map) It is called Moeha's campground, used to be the girlscout camp. It is a fabulous oasis in NV, my favorite place in NV. We are headed up there this weekend for a stay at the B & B, which by the way is also wonderful spot if you want a break from the camper!

Thanks for the info. I have been to Cathedral Gorge State Park. Watch this video: http://www.southernutahtravel.biz/videos.html upper left page and you will see that as well as Pioche. I would like to camp at Cathedral Gorge in the fall, when it is a bit cooler and the falls colors will be happening.

Well, I started off to go to Great Basin Nat. Monument. I drove 237 miles to find no redeeming value. I don't think the place has had any maintenance since the 1950's. The park roads were so narrow I could not believe it. Pot holes all over. Camp spaces were small. And the topper now view. You had to hike to get any views of the area. Now I did not go to the top area of the park. That could be nice, I don't know. The park ranger said the roads up to that area are very narrow and towing a trailer it is going to be tight. So, I said screw that and drove all the way back to Cedar City. The next day I drove to Red Canyon again. A beautiful place. Clean and well kept. Visuals are great.

Leaving Phoenix in a few minutes and will be headed up to your neck of the woods ... first Coral Pink Sand Dunes, then jump over to Capitol Reef, then back track to Bryce ... will be in Bryce Canyon Pines campground on Aug 8 & 9 ... if you're out and about.

I give Bryce Canyon Pines Campground a 2 out of 10. If you like clean bathrooms and showers and a real clean campground, just down the road to Red Canyon campground ($ 15.00 per night, unless you have a golden age pass, then it is $ 7.50) is the ticket. I have been to Bryce Canyon Pines. There is nothing good I can say about it except I would rather park on the side of the road than stay there. Plus ripoff prices!!

You're right that Bryce Canyon Pines is overpriced, but it was an okay campground ... far better than pulling off to the side of the road and staying for sure!! As I travel alone, inside a campground is always my preference. They were very convenient to Bryce NP, which was a plus. Red Canyon is very beautiful, checked out the campground, as well as did a short hike in the area.

I over reacted a bit on Bryce Canyon Pines campground. I think what got to me is the porta potties. Yikes! Funky and some of them are not level. I guess sitting in one is kind of a disney ride type of thing.

Here is a photo of a place I checked out the other day. It is Pine Lake and campground. Wow! What a beautiful place to stay. As you travel east on Hwy. 12, instead of turning to go to Bryce Canyon you turn left on 22 and go up the Hwy for about 10 miles then turn right for another 7 miles and there you are. Wonderful place to camp.

boy, now a new journey has started in your life. Mine started 8 years ago, but didn't sell my home. Worked too hard for this dwelling, but still am haveing the time of my life going places and meeting new people with my car and tear. Hoping that a I will be able to go for an extended trip through Canada for about three months. Am also planning a Alaskan trip, but don't know which to do first. The Canada trip won't be that vast of a trip, but the Alaskan trip would love for another tear to make the jaunt just for the company and just in case. Will do either in 2011 and would start around the first of May and end when ever the trip is over.
