Came from the water world and am quickly falling for these lil' beauties. Saw your site on the Travel Chanel after discovering teardrops on eBay of all places.
Been know to camp and love the outdoors and actually dig cooking at my camp. Kids have slowed down our out door excursions...well the second kid. First kid we'd drag to Live Oak Music Fest's, our big families packin' in and communal cooking. Fondly remember my 2-ish boy sleeping in his wagon as Dickey Betts jammed late into the night.
Here's my quandary... been arguing with the old man...just because you can fit the galley inside--should you? I'd love to set up my galley like the traditional teardrops, and he feels like there's room inside, he should put 'er inside. Any takers?? Thanks in advance for the input :)
And tried to log into the cook site---here comes the dumb question, diff username/password?
Great support thanks for the site! Plan to upload the family pix, but looking for my album-saw it last time I posted, but can access from the "header" at top of screen
Peace

Yes, Campcook is a different site, therefore you have to register there too.

Same thing with Tearjerkers and Pamplingrove.

I tried to segregate from the main menu a little bit so you could tell that they are not part of T&TTT.

For me, having the galley outside was the absolute appeal. I have no interest in having the kitchen inside. Cooking outside is what camping is all about. The few times I might have to cook inside means it is time for sandwiches or going out to dinner. If the galley were inside, I would be pulling everything out to cook outside for each meal. Silly. Cooking outside is the communal, family part of camping. Inside is loner, isolation. Nope, not for me.

Outside!

Postby tearhead » Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:32 pm

Have you ever come to the right place! Welcome!!

In answer to the inside v. outside question---OUTSIDE! Most teardroppers acquire some sort of shelter to go over the galley, which is great for if it rains and also keeps the sun off. Why not enjoy the outdoors?

First, welcome!

Second, Outside! If it rains, eat a sandwich. When it's not raining, you don't want your sleeping quarters smelling like your last meal - especially if you like fish! ;)

I can see no reason to cook inside except to coat your walls with gook, and remove the appeal of camping which is cooking outdoors. Remember a teardrop is small it's not like you are cooking in your bedroom, you are cooking in your bed. Like others have said having the galley outside is one of the coolest parts of the teardrop!

to answer the question, I am sure it can be done, but maybe visiting the why might help, what are the advantages and disadvantages of in and out. The answers might present the solution themselves. Good luck because outside is the answer! ;)

Most of the folks I know with Tiny travel Trailers still do their cooking outside. It will just help your trailer last longer and stay more appealing.

I had a nice popup with kitchen for 14 years. I can count on my hand the times I cooked inside.

I have a Little Guy Reverse TD. No galley at all. Since I camp in black bear country, I'd rather not have food anywhere around the TD.

I'm probably one of the extreme TDers in that I don't have a galley at all.

Hugs,

Get the optional $99.00 Kitchen in a tote ............

The first up shelter with sides gives you a 100 sq ft room addition.

Kitchen / dinning ~ gathering room ~ bar / recreation room

It can be whatever you want.

I have seen a couple pull out kitchens on here that were a sweet idea.

It was just a giant drawer that slid out so your kitchen could be inside or outside. I am sure someone can get us a link to it.

Indoor/outdoor Galley

Postby LilLuLu » Wed Aug 25, 2010 10:08 am

Thanks for all the input, that's the route I was headed. Eventhough when I cook fish it doesn't smell bad? Maybe if the dishes don't get done until next am, for sure!! :?
Definatly interested on the "conversian" kitchen in a drawer. Will do some searching later. I felt like I'd hate th in/out of the masses while I was cookin' letting air out bugs in. If there's enough room so not to be cooking on your bed-the convertable galley might be sweet depending on my mood/weather. For that to happen don't think the back hatch would open.

Anyways off for now, have a great day!
