Football Season is Coming -- Who's your Favorite....

Postby caseydog » Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:04 pm

Football season is coming, and we all have our favorite teams and players. So, who is your absolute favorite player -- both now, and in the past.

My current favorite is Troy Polamalu. My all-time favorite is Jack Lambert. I own one official NFL jersey, and it is a number 58 black and gold.

Would you want to be a Quarterback and look out and see that face?

Hey admins, smack talk and trash talk is okay, and even encouraged in this thread.

Oh, another favorite player of mine is Barry Sanders. If he had played for a competitive team, he would have a fistfull of Supper Bowl rings. Definitely a hall of famer who deserved to hold, butnever got to hold the Lombardy trophy.

Him and Dan Marino.

Hmmmm. Just one?

I have a favorite all-time backfield.

Staubach. Newhouse. Garrison.

I really, really like Graham Harrell, who'll probably make Green Bay's practice squad this year.

But my favorite current player, despite the sucky job he did tonight, is Tony Romo.

...the bestest quarterback in the league...Drew Brees...on the bestest team in the world...the New Orleans Saints...yeah baby...kicked butt on anybody who counted last year and will do the same this year!!!!!!

...being I have always been a defensive fan, my favorite, is the best middle linebacker of all time...DICK BUTKUS...once read an interview with him where he stated, the way he got psyched for a game was to imagine hitting the opposing quarteback so hard, his head and helmet popped off and rolled down the field...now that's a real man...

Born and raised 50 miles south of Boston. Patriots, of course. Tedy Bruschi was my favorite. :(

Duke is from Pittsburgh...things get interesting come football season.

Love watching Troy Polamalu as well. As the saying goes, 'Half the world is covered by water...the other half by Troy Polamalu.'

Polamalu also seems like a nice guy. He regularly visits Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. No cameras in tow, just does it because he wants to. My sister-in-law, who lives in Pittsburgh, was staying at Children's with her grandson, who, sadly, was a regular there before he passed away last month. She was carrying Sonny and taking a walk with him when she came face to face (actually face to clavicle) with Troy in a quiet hallway one night. She instantly recognized him, and only said, softly, in her sweet, motherly way, 'for heaven's sake, Troy, be careful.' Troy smiled and said, just as softly so as not to wake Sonny, 'Yes, Ma'am. I will.'

Go Pats.

Went to the Bears game last night. Perfect weather, great seats, bad team, means a long season. But they are all we have, so I cheer them on through their follies.

But we do have the Blackhawks so I am happy!

 I had never heard that one before.

BTW, I'm a Steelers fan living in Dallas. :noyes:

One of my neighbors is from Cleveland. We have a booze bet on every Steelers Browns game. This year it is a big bottle of Tito's Vodka (made in Texas).

Gary Anderson formerly of the Minnesota Vikings. The only kicker in history to have a perfect regular season both field goals and extra points. He only missed one that year, the one that would have won the Super Bowl.

He is also a fly fisherman in his spare time. Nice guy who deserved to wear that number 1 on his jersey.

I'm just waitin to see how many times Tebow gets flattened this year.

And I'm kind of interersted to see how Ndamukong Suh is gonna do with the Lions this year.

An all time fav would be John Elway.
