5 x 10 Generic Benroy For Sale

Postby Jstroke » Mon Aug 23, 2010 1:42 pm

This teardrop got our family camping and now we don't use it because our family cannot stay in it together. I hope it can hook another family on the joys of camping the way it hooked ours.

I built this tear with much help from this forum. It was finished and registered in 2008. Thanks again everyone for the help. It weighs 880 lbs.

Running gear is 2 x 2 square tubing with a 2000 lb axle and 12" wheels.
This Woody is covered with 2 coats of MAS epoxy and six coats of Spar Varvish. Clear Redwood trim. It has two doors. Sides and roof are insulated with 3/4" foam. Queen size air mattress.

Equipped with a 12 volt converter, 110 outlets and a Fantastic Fan roof vent.

Here are a few pictures. If you are interested shoot me an email troyvb "at" nethtc "dot" net. I am located in NW Iowa.

I am asking $3250.00

There have been a lot of views but no interest.

Is my teardrop priced incorrectly?

Well, I think that it is a very nice TD, price seems somewhat fair.
My only question is in two areas, Now this is for me, Wood is great looking, but has maintenance, in the Southeast, the humidity is very high, and for some reason penetrates materials more, add the salt for the coastal Southeast, and you have a high maintenance TD. Not everyone has climate controlled storage, there are many carports in the Southeast, we fill our garages with crap!

2nd, Again for me, I would like more cabinets and drawers in the galley.

Overall I think its a nice TD though, it looks well built.

We have not recovered from the recession. People are not opening their wallets right now.

If you have to move it, you might want to consider a price reduction.

Thanks for the responses. I do not need to sell it but would like it to be camping. It is stored inside and does not eat much.

If someone is in my area and looking for a tear give me a call.

I agree with Mike, I have a '52 chev', that 3 years ago people would have beat down my door for the price I have it at. Now, alot of lookers, but not even an offer.
Good luck.

Well Troy, I suggest that you take it camping with the 'For Sale' sign on it. Who knows, you just might run across another camper that just has to have it. It happens. Just another part of the market that is out there.

Have you considered selling it on ebay? That price would be considered great compaired to the ebay tears. I notice a lot of the ebay ones that have AC seem to sell faster. Also, take pics with the cooler and a microwave and a camp stove. You have to show some people the FULL potential cuz they can't see it for themselves. Put 2 coffee mugs next to that cute coffee pot, or a bottle of wine with 2 wine glasses. Then be willing to sell it with everything with it, cuz people will think they can't simulate it themselves. Put a nice cozy looking blanket and put the tv (television not tow vehicle) in its spot with the dvd player. Display your tears FULL potential! It was a good idea to go camping with the for sale sign too! It will sell, you just have to give the RIGHT person the time to find it and the money for it! $3000 sounds (or looks) a lot less than $3250. Or you could even say 3250 with everything and get a dvd player and all in there! I would REALLY want AC if there is a way to get an AC in there (even the cheap window type AC units).

I would be very interested and will keep checking back to see if you sold it. I am currently in NY and will probably be here until late August, but if you still have the teardrop, I could be sure my route comes through Iowa as I head back to California.
