Need Help Finding A Light

Postby HuntinNut » Mon Sep 06, 2010 9:46 pm

Im looking for a light for my cargo conversion. It has a light in the front that is powered by the 7 pin conector. What Im looking for is a light that I can hook up to the existing 7 pin wire and run a wire from my battery so when the trailer isnt hooked up I can run off the battery. Is there such a light?

There is a ton of them... Go to any discount trailer internet site and look at interior or cargo area lighting...

Its just a simple 12 volt light in most cases....

GOOGLE search for "discount trailer parts" will return many places which to look...

I think you are trying to have "on-Board" lighting even when the tow vehicle is miles away.

I added small sockets and 12 volt bulbs to both my porch lights,(1157 tail light bulbs) both my inside lights (a couple clearance light socket and bulb) and the galley( it was a exit light with 12 volt backup lights already in it).

From the onboard battery I went to a main fuse and manual shut off then to a second fuse block with the cheap little glass fuses. From there to the lights. By adding a tow charge line to the battery you can maintain the battery while towing and use it for many many hours independent of the tow vehicle. I never ran the charge line I simply charge the battery before the trip. For giggles I took a tap-a-light ( one of those cheap little battery puck lights) and retrofitted it with 120 volt christmas bulb a 12 volt clearance bulb and socket so I have an AC/DC and self contained battery light. Use your imagination and a little hot glue and you can have any kind of 12 volt light you want.

Both of these are 120 ac and 12 volt DC

I think you need to specify where your battery is. Do you have a battery in your CT or are you relying on the tow vehicle battery and the 7 pin connector? I found it simpler to install a 12v batter in the CT and run interior lights off of that via an independent circuit rather than the vehicle battery. I bought a "Battery Tender" that I have plugged into my 110v AC to charge/maintain the CT battery.

Not sure that helps you but it works for me.
