Hello from PA ::.

Postby campme » Wed Sep 08, 2010 5:25 pm

I really can't remember what brought me to this site but I'm sure glad I found it. There are so many amazing builds throughout this site I have yet to scratch the surface.

I'm originally from South Carolina (call home) but have been living here in PA for about 10 years now on a job transfer. I drive for a mail contractor running priority mail across the state of PA and hate it, lol. I'm more into electronics and computers but the pay was too good to pass on this driving job.

My dream is to build a self contained teardrop and take some time off from life to enjoy what life is really all about. I'm a really layed back person and love the simple life (southern born and raised) and want to get back to my roots.

I bought me a 72 blazer that I'm currently in the process of restoring and I think this could be the ultimate TV for my planed teardrop; full convertible top and just nostalgic looking.

I'm looking forward to the start of my build and any input will be greatly appreciated. Hope I can get to know you all or even meet yall some day at the completion of my build.

Thanks for reading;

Welcome. We have several regular members in PA. It is a pretty state, with lots of pretty places to camp.

I was born outside of Philly, and moved to Pittsburgh from there. Where are you? One of the admins is in York. He's a cool guy. We have another guy in Butler, near Pittsburgh -- but be careful, he'll corrupt you. :lol:

Thanks caseydog, I'm in a small town about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh called Natrona Heights. This is a nice camping state I agree. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the Butler guy, I'm looking to hang out with that guy lol.

Thanks for the welcome,

Bob,

I spent a number of years in PA too. The Dravosburg/West Mifflin area of Pittsburgh.

With a tow vehicle like your 72 Blazer, you can go a little bit larger than the average 4' high, 8' long teardrop. Balance the size so that it looks nice behind the Blazer! :thumbsup:

Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Thanks mikeschn, great idea about the balance. I've thought about a 5' x 10' but I'm still tossing around a ton of ideas.

Hey goldcoop thanks for the heads-up on the schedule. Unfortunately I have to work those day's. I'll definitely see you folks around during by build. I would like to see some ideas in person before I start.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I'm still in the thought stage and I'll post a build thread when I start. I have started learning and using the Sketchup program for the layout and even progecad smart (freeware cad program). Some nice ideas out there, still reading. lol

Thanks,

I grew-up in Delaware Water Gap, in the Poconos area. Some beautiful camping in Pennsylvania!

But I'm a midwesterner now... still go back yearly to visit family and such.
